Rain Gardens for the Home, Tuesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m.

Isaac Martin, vice president of the Native Plant Society of New Jersey will discuss the importance of rain gardens to the environment. More information about the society can be found on their website www.npsnj.org

“Rain Gardens enhance local water quality by allowing water to be naturally filtered by soil instead of being piped, untreated into large bodies of water. A simple, yet effective method to enhance water quality and control stormwater is through the use of rain gardens.

Beyond its environmental use, rain gardens provide attractive landscaping and a natural habitat for birds and butterflies, while encouraging environmental stewardship and community pride. In addition, using native plant species in your rain garden will be an excellent way to increase native populations in a developed area.”
